GOOD GUESS

GROUP 1 WINNER BY KODIAC!

We are delighted to add GOOD GUESS, Kodiac’s latest Group 1-winning son, to our roster for next season.

Owned by Hisaaki Saito and trained by Fabrice Chappet, Good Guess was the brilliant winner of a deep renewal of the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Deauville, scoring by three lengths from Sauterne, later winner of the Group 1 Prix du Moulin. Other Group 1 performers such as 2,000 Guineas winner Chaldean, Belbek, Hi Royal, Breizh Sky and Meditate were also behind him that day.

Prior to that performance, Good Guess won the Group 3 Prix Djebel at Deauville. His successful return came off the back of a good 2yo season, in which he won his first two starts over 5 ½ furlongs and 6 furlongs at Chantilly.

“As one of Kodiac’s best sons, it is very satisfying to be standing him in the same stallion yard as his sire.," said Roger O'Callaghan.

“Kodiac already has a number of successful sons at stud and in Good Guess, we are delighted to be offering a son who was not only a precocious 2yo but also trained on into the one of Europe’s best 3yos. He is also a very good-looking horse, as underlined by his yearling sales price of 420,000gns.”

A renowned influence for quality 2yo speed, Kodiac has emerged as a successful sire of sires with sons such as Ardad, Coulsty, Kodi Bear and Prince Or Lir each represented by Group 1 performers in the past two seasons.

Good Guess was purchased for 420,000gns as a yearling by Sebastien Desmontils’ Chauvigny Global Equine. He was bred by Cheveley Park Stud and is a descendant of their brilliant miler Russian Rhythm.

“He is hard to fail both physically and mentally as well as on pedigree. He was an obvious one at the sales and he proved the market right, especially when he won the Prix Jean Prat in such great style over four other Group 1 winners" - Sebastian Desmontils
