A Mehmas colt from Haras de Castillon was the start turn at V2 of the Arqana August Sale in Deauville on Tuesday, selling for a joint sale-topping €140,000.
Nicolas de Watrigant of Mandore International signed the ticket on the colt, who is out of the winning Zoffany mare Al Shahaniya, a relation to top two-year-old Tiggy Wiggy.
The colt will join Stephane Wattel.
"He's a son of Mehmas - who needs no introduction anymore - and is a lovely horse and a lovely mover," de Watrigant told the Racing Post. "He looks precocious and I'm delighted to buy him.
"This is the mare's second foal and Mehmas is such a good stallion at upgrading his mares that we hope he will make a very good two-year-old. With Stephane Wattel enjoying such a good year with his juveniles, I think it all comes together nicely."
Mehmas was also represented by a colt out of Jarada from Haras de Montaigu who sold for €77,000 to Paul Nataf.
As such, he ended the sale with an average of €80,667.
