Champion first-crop sire elect MEHMAS hit another milestone on Wednesday evening thanks to the victory of DRISH VENTURE in the 6f nursery at Dundalk.
He becomes the 50th winner for the record-breaking Mehmas!
Partnered by Wayne Lordan, Drish Venture made all and wasn't truly extended to score by close to three lengths.
Drish Venture is a real success story for Mark Commins and his family, who bred the gelding out of the Inchinor mare Flashing Blade.
“My son Paul does most of the work with this horse so deserves a lot of the credit,” Commins told Irishracing.com. “We're absolutely thrilled. He has been improving and improving and we thought he was going to win.
“He did everything right today, broke lovely and popped out there. Wayne gave him a super ride.
“We couldn't be any happier, he won very well. I'd say we could even drop him back to five.
“He's Paul's horse really. He does the feeding, the mucking out, the brushing, everything with him. I also have to thank my father Donal who is a big help.”
Mehmas's outstanding season includes several two-year-olds out of the top drawer, notably the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes hero Supremacy, Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes winner Minzaal and Listed scorers Acklam Express and Method.
The dual Group 2-winning son of Acclamation will stand for €25,000 in 2021.
