The win of Sunset Glory in the CTT and TOC Stakes at Del Mar capped a brilliant few days for her sire Cotai Glory, a run that also featured a TDN Rising Star and second impressive Del Mar scorer.
Bred by Ringfort Stud out of the Giant's Causeway mare Giant Dancer, Sunset Glory headed stateside after running fourth on debut at Naas for Andrew Slattery. She has quickly made her presence felt for owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Bruce Treitman as the winner of three of four starts under the care of Mike McCarthy capped by Saturday's CTT and TOC Stakes success.
“You know, this filly is improving race by race," said jockey Umberto Rispoli. "Once she puts her feet on the track she is always on her toes. Look, she doesn’t have a lot of experience, but she learns something every race. Today, she proved to everyone again, going a mile and 3/8th. My thought was to keep behind Linda’s Gift all the way, without letting Linda’s Gift getting too far ahead of me. When we turned for home I was just behind the leader and I think she took her out pretty well.”
The following day at Del Mar, Cotai Glory was on the mark once again, this time as the sire of Gypsy Woman, who brought her record to three wins for close to $100,000 in earnings with a success for Mark Glatt in allowance company. The filly was bred by the Highest Praise Syndicate out of the Acclamation mare Highest Praise.
Her win followed hot on the heels of an impressive winning debut from Tally-Ho breezer Powerful Glory for Sheikh Rashid Dalmook al Maktoum and Richard Fahey at Pontefract on Sunday. Sent off the 10/11 favourite, he didn't disappoint, powering clear for a near six-length victory.
Bred by Con Marnane out of the Kodiac mare Wouldnitbelovely, Powerful Glory was part of our breeze-up draft at the Goffs Breeze-Up Sale in Doncaster.
