The brilliant Mehmas filly Going Global has come close to breaking the million dollar barrier in earnings following her easy success in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Handicap at Del Mar on Saturday.
Remarkably it was the seventh Graded stakes success for Going Global, whose career highlight came in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks.
“I thought [jockey] Umberto had her perfectly placed from the get-go and it was just a matter of when he was going to press the button,“ winning trainer Philip D'Amato said. “He did, she responded. All credit to Umberto and the filly and we‘ll move on to the [GII John C.] Mabee Stakes at Del Mar.”
Phil D'Amato trains Going Global for CYBT, Michael Dubb, Saul Gevertz, Michael Nentwig, Ray Pagano.
Going Global was bred in Ireland by Nicky Hartery out of Wrood, a winning Invasor half-sister to Group 3 winner Racer Forever, and originally purchased for €15,500 by Pioneer Racing out of the Goffs Sportsman's Sale.
She is one of two Group or Grade 1 winners for Mehmas alongside Supremacy and is one of 18 stakes winners out of his first three crops overall.
