Caught U Looking tops day one of Tatts Mares

Best of luck to Willingham with our Group 3 winner Caught U Looking, who topped the first day of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale when sold out of our draft for 1,800,000gns.

The daughter of Harzand has been a wonderful filly for us and Peter and Sabina Kelly, winning the Group 3 Park Stakes and Listed Bluebell Stakes. She also ran with credit in the Epsom Oaks.

“Caught U Looking has been bought to race on - we want to do a Via Sistina,” said Vin Cox of Willingham. “She made around where we thought we might end up. She is a well-performed filly and she has a pretty good profile to race on.

“We are not suggesting that she could turn into the same sort of horse as Via Sistina. We'd love her to but you need to keep the feet on the ground and hope she can win some nice races. It is no secret that staying horses from this part of the world can perform exceptionally well in Australia, and she has already performed well.”

“That was incredible,” said Sabina Kelly following the sale. “I am in shock. We weren’t expecting that! She has always been a pet and we have always loved her. It is sad to see her go but she has been brilliant and we have had a great season.”

“I bred her and I wanted to stay in her," said Peter Kelly. “Noel Meade wanted to buy her and so when he bought her, I stayed in for half. Tony [O’Callaghan] was also interested in her and so he bought in. I was so chuffed at the time that he wanted part of a horse I had bred, and he has been a wonderful partner the whole way.”

“We think there's a good bit of potential - there’s more to come,” added Tony O’Callaghan. “I’d say she did it herself because she behaved impeccably there for the past three days. That's why she made it. Credit to Peter Nolan, Peter Kelly and Noel Meade. She'd 12 vets and was very popular.”
