Cotai Glory's Rebel Diamond hits ground running in Qatar

Rebel Diamond made the perfect start to his campaign in Qatar for Wathnan Racing on Friday when taking the Al Rayyan Stakes.

The Cotai Glory colt was previously a smart performer for Natalia Lupini, winning the Listed Blenheim Stakes prior to selling to current connections for 300,000gns to Blandford Bloodstock (pictured below). He is now trained by Alban de Mieulle.

Rebel Diamond's win signs off an excellent year for his sire Cotai Glory that also featured a win by the unbeaten Powerful Glory in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and stakes scores for Redstone Well, Democracy Dilemma and Sunset Glory among others.

His Group 3-winning daughter of Excellent Truth was also one of the stars of the Arqana December Sale when selling for €1.6 million to Stamford Bloodstock and Meridian Bloodstock.

Rebel Diamond was bred by Funcheon Bloodstock out of Periwinkle, a Teofilo daughter of Royal Blue Star.

Cotai Glory stands for €15,000.
