An excellent showing at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale in Doncaster on Thursday saw Galileo Gold return an average of £68,875 for four sold - no other first crop with more than one offered could boast a higher figure.
His high-flying quartet was headed by our colt out of York Express, for whom Armando Duarte went to a joint sale-topping £210,000 on behalf of Ling Bloodstock.
“He’s for an English client," Duarte told The Owner Breeder. "We bid on one earlier and didn’t get it, and this horse was the only one after that we were interested in.
“We were looking for an Ascot type of horse and this one looked like he fitted the bill – he looks precocious.”
Galileo Gold was a brilliant performer for Al Shaqab Racing and Hugo Palmer, winning the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at two and Group 1 2,000 Guineas and St. James's Palace Stakes at three.
He has over 100 two-year-olds to run for him this year and stands for €5,000.
