An excellent week for Inns Of Court continued in style on Friday as Lia Fail broke her maiden at Down Royal for owner-trainer Michael Mulvany.
The filly becomes the fifth winner out of the first crop of her sire within the past week after Baileys Polka Dot (Dieppe), Innvincible Friend (Chester), Elegant Madame (Lingfield) and Vicuna (Naples).
Lia Fail was always prominent under Sean Bird and although headed turning for home, showed a game attitude to wrestle back the lead in the final stride.
"We brought her to Dundalk the other day and she worked very well, so we were coming in with some confidence," said Mulvany. "She was good and game, and hopefully she will go on from that.
"Sean works with me and I'm delighted for him, he loses his 10lb claim now. He joined us early on in the year and we've given him a few more rides. The 10lb certainly helped and he is getting better all the time."
Lia Fail was bred by Kelly Equine Services out of Balqaa, a winning Invasor half-sister to Group 3 winner Sefri.
Inns Of Court, a Group 1 son of Invincible Spirit, stands for €5,000.
