Mehmas assumed a leading role during the first session of the Tattersalls Craven Sale on Tuesday thanks to a smart colt out of Transcendence who sold for 300,000gns to Michael O'Callaghan.
Willie Browne's Mocklershill sold the colt on behalf of breeder Pier House Stud. He is a half-brother to last year's Coventry Stakes winner River Tiber while dam Transcendence is a half-sister to Listed scorers Mister Manannan and Shermeen.
“He is a Royal Ascot mould,” said Michael O’Callaghan after outbidding Ross Doyle. “He is by that type of sire. He was very professional in his breeze, he comes from a very good hotel, he has a great pedigree, he is a half-brother to River Tiber and it is a very good cross. He’s by Mehmas out of a Arcano mare, and that’s the same cross as Supremacy [winner of the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes].”
