Record-breaking Mehmas has wasted little time in making his presence felt with his second crop of 2yos - on Friday, son Gubbass made a striking winning debut in the 5f novice at Leicester for Richard Hannon.
Sent off the 15/8 favourite, Gubbass was always travelling smoothly under Sean Levey and only had to be pushed out hands and heels to record a near two-length success.
Gubbass is fittingly trained by Richard Hannon, who sent out Mehmas to win the July and Richmond Stakes, and races in the colours of Jassim Bin Ali Al Attiyah. He was bred by Tom Lacy and is the first foal out of Vida Amorosa, a Lope De Vega relation to classy sprinter Garrus.
Gubbass was purchased out of the Tally-Ho Stud draft at last year’s Tattersalls Ireland September Sale by Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock.
Mehmas, whose 60 first-crop winners include Group 1 scorer Supremacy, stands for €25,000.
