Kodiac filly Pillow Talk staked her Royal Ascot claims for Karl Burke on Friday with a game success in the Listed Marygate Stakes at York. In the process, she became the fourth stakes winner this month for her sire following Pennine Hills, successful in the Prix des Lilas at Chantilly, Umm Kulthum, winner of the Kilvington Stakes at Newmarket, and Island Of Love, successful in the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes at Santa Anita Park.
Second on her debut at Nottingham, Pillow Talk was always travelling well for Danny Tudhope and once shaken up, answered every call to deny her stablemate Yahsat by a neck. The pair pulled almost three lengths clear of the third.
Yet another smart performer bred by Mountarmstrong Stud, Pillow Talk is out of the Kheleyf mare Flawless Jewel, a winning half-sister to top sprinter Sands Of Mali.
She was bought by Joe Foley on behalf of owner Clipper Logistics for 80,000gns as a Tattersalls October Book 2 yearling.
Pillow Talk is one of 79 stakes winners for Kodiac.
