Once again, Kodiac reigns as Europe's champion two-year-old sire.
On this occasion, the title was achieved with 46 winners, six of them at stakes level - a total matched by only one other.
Headed by Group 1 winner El Bodegon, the list comprises:
EL BODEGON: Critérium de Saint-Cloud, Saint-Cloud, Gr.1, Prix de Condé, Chantilly, Gr.3, 3rd Prix La Rochette, ParisLongchamp, Gr.3
GLOUNTHAUNE: Killavullan Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.3
FAST ATTACK: Oh So Sharp Stakes, Newmarket, Gr.3
GEOCENTRIC: Legacy Stakes, Dundalk, Listed, 2nd Round Tower Stakes, Curragh, Gr.3
STRAIGHT ANSWER: Blenheim Stakes, Fairyhouse, Listed
ISLAND OF LOVE: Premio Eupili, Rome, Listed
In all, an excellent year for Kodiac saw him finish as a top two champion European sire by winners on 158 and a top eight champion European sire by prize-money thanks to the earners of approximately £3.1 million. His older stakes winners were led by the Tally-Ho bred CAMPANELLE, winner of the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
2021 was also a year that consolidated Kodiac's reputation as a serious sire of sires, notably via ARDAD, COULSTY and KODI BEAR, all of whom were represented by Group 1 winners or performers.
Next up is our own KESSAAR, whose first crop run this year.
