Tally-Ho breezer Colour Up (pictured) added another bow to Mehmas' stud record on Saturday when striking in the Listed Jebel Ali Sprint in Dubai.
Mehmas is understandably regarded as primarily a turf stallion but Colour Up is an accomplished dirt performer; also winner of the Listed Al Garhoud Sprint, his recent runs also include placings in the Group 3 Dubawi Stakes and Al Shindagha Sprint, all on the Meydan dirt.
Owned by Sayed Hashish and trained by Doug Watson, five-time winner Colour Up hails from Mehmas' first crop. He was bred by us out of Tifariti, an Elusive Quality half-sister to Flying Childers Stakes winner Land Of Dreams, herself dam of champion sprinter Dream Ahead and granddam of the brilliant Tally-Ho bred Group 1 winner Fairyland.
Colour Up was bought by Sayed Hashish and Richard Knight from our draft at the 2020 Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale.
On what was a good day for Tally-Ho breezers, former graduate Down On Da Bayou also ran an admirable second in the Group 3 Jebel Ali Mile for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum. Now seven, the tough daughter of Super Saver won the Group 3 UAE Oaks back in 2020.
