Mehmas and Kodiac well represented in Guineas entries

Tally-Ho

Mehmas is well represented among the early entries for both the 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket in early May.

Group 1 National Stakes scorer Scorthy Champ (pictured) is priced at around 16/1 for the 2,000 Guineas. The Joseph O'Brien-trained colt could be joined in the race by the Tally-Ho bred The Waco Kid, whose best performance last season for Hugo Palmer came on the Rowley Mile when successful in the Group 3 Tattersall Somerville Stakes.

Meanwhile, Group 1-winning daughter Vertical Blue and Amo Racing's California Dreamer both hold entries in the 1,000 Guineas. Vertical Blue won the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac for Francis-Henri Graffard, after which she changed hands for 3,200,000gns to Resolute Bloodstock.

Kodiac is also well represented in both events, notably as the sire of the David O'Meara-trained Newcastle winner Rogue Allegiance and Richard Spencer-trained Newmarket scorer Righthere Rightnow in the 2,000 Guineas. He's also the damsire of Tally-Ho-bred Seagulls Eleven, who was third behind Scorthy Champ in the National Stakes.

Daughters Babouche, who won the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes for Juddmonte and Ger Lyons last season, and Newmarket scorer Remaat, a homebred for Prince A A Faisal, also hold early entries in the 1,000 Guineas.
