Another outstanding few days for Mehmas continued on Saturday with a deserved stakes victory for his 4yo daughter Tax Implications in the Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Her win came hot on the heels of Clarendon House's success in the Listed Midsummer Sprint Stakes at York.
Trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Stakes, Tax Implications had held her own admirably in stakes company prior to Saturday but the Eatontown success brought her form to another level, with the filly storming up the centre of the track to swoop past Maman Joon.
"The turf today is a little soft in my opinion," said Luis Cabrera, assistant to Chad Brown. "You can see by some of her past races on softer turf where she ran well against graded stakes company. We also didn't have to ship her since her last start was here and we kept her here. That can make a difference. I was a little worried about the slow fractions but she was close to the leaders. I was worried it wouldn't help the other one [Maman Joon]. There was no pace for her. But she ran well. I think the plan is to go forward in the [GIII] WinStar Matchmaker S. [on the NYRA Bets Haskell S. card]."
Tax Implications was bred by Aoife Kent of Mickley Stud out of Country Madam, a Medaglia d'Oro half-sister to Invincible Army out of Group 1 winner Rajeem. She was a 75,000gns Tattersalls December Foal purchase by J C Bloodstock and resold for 250,000gns to Mike Ryan on behalf of current connections as a Tattersalls October Book 1 yearling.
