Tally-Ho breezer Spycatcher added yet another stakes success to his accomplished record when landing the Listed Cammidge Trophy during the opening day of the British Turf Flat season at Doncaster on Saturday.
Trained by Karl Burke, the seven-year-old Vadamos gelding has been a fantastic campaigner for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, who bought him from us through John and Jake Warren at the 2020 Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale.
Since then, Spycatcher has won seven races for over £400,000 in earnings. In addition to Saturday's Cammidge Trophy, his wins also include the Group 3 Prix de Ris-Orangis and Group 3 Prix de Meautry. He was also a short head second in the 2023 Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest.
On Saturday, he was brought with a sweeping run down the outer by James Doyle and had enough in reserve to repel the errant Iberian.
"Each year he comes out fresh and puts up a bold display," said James Doyle. "Today wasn't his preferred underfoot conditions.
"All credit to Karl and his team. He's absolute dude - he’s unlucky not to be a Group 1 winner."
Spycatcher was bred by Tally-Ho Stud out of Damask, a daughter of former Tally-Ho stallion Red Clubs.
